DIY Body Scrubs — Keep Your Skin's Summertime Glow Even During Winter With These Skin Care Scrubs

There is very little doubt that winter wreaks havoc on your skin with winter winds, reduced sunlight and drier atmospheric conditions. Summer tans fade and your skin turns flaky. As the months pass and it feels like spring will never arrive, your skin usually starts to take on the appearance of a lizard’s hide if you don’t care for it properly. Try not to fret, there are ways to retain your summertime glow even during the dark days of winter.

Winter time skin care is as easy as applying regular body scrubs and moisturisers. Body scrubs ex-foliate away the dry skin flakes to reveal a renewed surface. The rubbing action of applying the body scrub also increase the body’s circulation to clear away free radicals from your skin that dull its appearance and cause premature ageing. Once the fresh, new skin layer is exposed then you can focus on keeping it smooth, soft and glowing by using a moisturising cream that hydrates the thirsty skin.

DIY Body Scrubs

A visit to the Castle Thai Spa is an ideal way to enjoy a body scrub and massage during the dark days of winter. Our Thai Lime and Ginger body scrub will leave you feeling invigorated and reduce your winter time blahs. We also offer an Argan Oil body scrub that helps combat the signs of ageing while brightening the skin with a special blend of nutmeg, anise and tree lettuce leaves. No matter which body scrub you choose, you will leave the spa feeling satisfied and with a renewed feeling of overall health.

In between spa visits you might want to pamper yourself with an  ‘at home’ DIY scrub that will benefit your skin, health, and overall well-being. There are  several natural DIY scrubs that you can mix up at home to keep your skin glowing until you go to the spa.

Sea Salt — Lemon Juice — Olive Oil

Sea salt is coarse and naturally scrubs away dead skin cells without causing irritation. Mix a tablespoon of sea salt with a couple of squirt of lemon juice and a teaspoon of olive oil. Smooth on your face to gently clean, exfoliate and hydrate. Your skin will feel refreshed and have a subtle citrus fragrance. The lemon juice also helps reduce the appearance of pores and helps smooth away fine lines. This DIY scrub works great for your entire body. Just mix an additional amount to cover your arms, chest, and legs. Then gently massage it into your skin or have your partner apply the scrub for a fun couples experience.

Honey and Sea Salt

Another favourite DIY body scrub is composed of sea salt and honey. A tablespoon of sea salt and a tablespoon of honey scrubs away flaky winter skin to reveal new, rejuvenated skin. After applying the scrub to your skin, use circular motions to loosen dead skin. Use a mild soap and warm water to wash the salt and honey away from the skin’s surface. The honey helps lift away dead skin cells to reveal smoother, younger, glowing skin.

Banana — Sugar — Vanilla

Mash an overly ripe banana, mix in three tablespoons of natural sugar and a teaspoon of vanilla to create a delectable body scrub. This DIY scrub smells so good that you might want to eat it instead of smoothing it on your skin!  Massage the scrub into your facial skin and anywhere else that you want to peel away dry winter flakiness. Rinse the scrub away with warm water and your face will glow.
